Looking forward to SPS Italia 2025: automation, digital technology, AI, and skills. Exploring the smart and sustainable manufacturing industry.
21 gennaio 2025
Milan, 21 January 2025. With 6 exhibition pavilions and 800 expected exhibitors, SPS Italia is preparing for its thirteenth trade show, which takes place in Parma on 13-15 May 2025.
Taking place in Parma from 13 to 15 May 2025, SPS Italia is the pre-eminent trade show of the smart, digital and sustainable manufacturing industry.
Pavilions 3, 5 and 6 are showcasing products and solutions from leading suppliers of industrial automation components and systems, robotics, mechatronics, digital & software, technologies for smart manufacturing, and Industry 5.0-related products. Pavilions 4, 7 and 8 are hosting the Digital District, an exhibition itinerary with working demos and application cases of Industrial IT & AI, Start Ups and Education. The Digital District is where industrial software providers and major players in the digital world show off their technologically most advanced solutions. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet leading companies specializing in software and systems for industry, cybersecurity, condition monitoring, big data analysis, blockchain, artificial intelligence, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), the industrial cloud, and augmented reality. The area will also feature a "Focus AI" space dedicated to the implementation and exploration of the potential of artificial intelligence in the industrial sector.
SPS Italia On Tour
Pescara, Treviso, and Salerno have been selected as the districts for SPS Italia On Tour 2025. This three-city tour will bring together industry leaders to discuss automation and digital transformation, with a specific focus on the unique needs and strengths of each region.
- Pescara, Thursday 20 February - Aurum, Sala D'Annunzio
"Open, integrated and scalable platforms for secure, resilient and flexible future-proof manufacturing" - Treviso, Tuesday 11 March - Treviso-Belluno Chamber of Commerce "Enabling technologies for smart and sustainable Industry-5.0 manufacturing"
- Salerno, Wednesday 9 April - Zaha Hadid Maritime Station
"Conditions for the development of human-centred manufacturing”
The discussions are uniquely beneficial for trade schools and technical colleges around the country, and are made available through online classroom tools that enable students to interact directly with industry leaders. The experience of in-class discussions with remote participants is part of a redesigned approach to teaching that allows students to grasp the essential characteristics of the manufacturing sector and helps them chart their own career.
Academy and Education on Tour
SPS Italia has long been closely and actively involved in numerous training and educational initiatives that span the gap between academia and industry. Starting in April 2025, Education on Tour is an initiative for: encouraging dialogue between SPS Italia exhibitors and the academic world; informing students of the professional opportunities available to them in the industry; and “matchmaking” between young people and manufacturing technology companies. The first tour stop is on April 2 at the University of Siena. Meanwhile, during the fair, daily live lessons will be held for university and high school students at exhibition stands located in the Education Area in Pavilion 8, where the aim is to provide training and spur young people into entering emergent professions where the right sort of skills are in short supply.
Position Paper
The position paper is a joint production of SPS Italia and the trade fair’s Scientific Committee, whose more than 180 members include manufacturing companies as well as representatives of the academic world. It sets out useful guidelines to help Italian companies steer a true course through the wide range of innovative technologies. The initiative, hitherto resulting in a published document available online (spsitalia.it/it/position-paper), is now following a path that makes the content more immediate and usable. Accordingly, the related “Tech 'n go” project will at first be divided into four macro themes: new skills for digital factories and skills needed for automation; the path to sustainability using IT/OT automation technologies; industrial cybersecurity and data protection; AI, Big Data and their impact on business models. After the relevant thematic information has been disseminated, more substantive texts will be prepared as chapters for the 2025 Position Paper.
SPS Italia Up Challenge
This competition for innovative start-ups and SMEs awards creative and feasible technology and applied technology ideas that are potentially beneficial for society and that encourage the development of sustainable business models. Emerging companies that submit projects for consideration (closing date 7 February) are thus in with a chance of gaining new customers and meeting future partners. The three finalists can take part free of charge in SPS Italia 2025, where they will all be provided with an equipped stand in the Start-up Area. The winner will be announced during the fair at an event organized for that purpose.
SHE SPS Italy
This is a community that collates and publicises stories of women mentors in the field of industrial automation, and that highlights the opportunities available for new types of professionals in emerging technologies. In recent years, the community, in pursuit of its mission to educate and spread knowledge, has entered into partnerships with associations, university professors and other like-minded groups devoted to promoting change and bridging the gender gap. The initiative, which began as a way to enable women working in industrial technologies within the SPS Italia network to swap stories, share experiences and pool knowledge, has since grown into a thriving community of professionals fostering shared inclusive values and envisioning a better gender balance for the future of the sector.
The Parma fair will also include workshops and meetings with associations, groups and women business leaders including Steamorienta, Women in 3D Printing, Women in engineering, Steamiamoci, Women in Action, AHK, Arter Emilia Romagna. The first day of the fair sees the return of the "SHE SPS Italia Award" for the best four testimonials from exhibitors (who may enter through the call for papers).
